I'm guessing a different DD-WRT release may have corrected that. But when I do the same config on 5GHz, nothing works. Works with both vpn and non vpn operation. You can save yourself a whole lot of trouble by using the DNSMASQ that built with the DD-WRT, under the Dnsmasq / Additional Dnsmasq Options: All these DNS providers are DoT. Its set to CloudFlares 1.1.1.1 by default. That's slower, and my microwave oven interferes. Install through Entware and set it up using the instructions from Stubby site. I have only been able to get the two routers to communicate to each other using 2.4GHz. It then would be on it's own subnet, with it's own DHCP server. I needed to configure the secondary device as a repeater. i have changed a few settings, removed the pi-hole IP from the WAN section, and added a cmd for No DNS Rebind allowing the pi-hole ip. Configuring DNS on the secondary device has no impact. So the DNS config was coming as part of that reservation. I was configuring was repeater-bridge, which left the primary device in charge of DHCP. Thanks in advance for any help y'all can offer. I'm hoping your guidance will also include a specific release that's known to support the desired configuration. I can re-flash again to another release, but there are soooo many different versions. We have done a bit of research and have come up with a list we think you should keep in mind the next time you are out there trying to buy a DD-WRT router. I've tried multiple versions, and have only gotten this far. Better idea, look into Opendns as your dns provider. Also look into they can block quite a bit but they are not very cheap. Please note that I've deliberately left out the DD-WRT version. It is normal, and by default should have been the same with your old router, that hosts from your DD-WRT network (192.168.0.x) will be able to access hosts in the ISP-Router network () as this is part of and required for routing traffic from the isolated network into the internet. But, they all use the primary router's DNS/DHCP settings. the default settings are fine: in setup > basic, if dhcp is enabled, tick the options use dnsmasq for dhcp, use dnsmasq for dns, dhcp-authoritative. Clients can connect to the Repeater Bridge on 2.4GHz, and 5GHz with fantastic speeds. I would like to configure it so that connected devices will use the Pi-Hole DNS that I have running on my Raspberry Pi.Įverything works perfectly as described in that guide. I have a TP-Link Archer C9 v1 running DDWRT flawlessly as a wireless Repeater Bridge.
